The Lion King
Set in the stunning fauna of Africa, this story is probably one of the greatest every told. When it was released in 1994, the Disney film became the most successful animation movie to date, and as a result of its eminent musical character it soon inspired a major Broadway production for all ages. A 15-year run and 70 awards (including six Tonys) endorse a show that can only be enjoyed at Madrid's Teatro López de Vega.
On stage, seven artists display their physical skills, performing amazing feats that are sure to stun the audience. The result is an exciting cocktail of circus, cabaret and vaudeville.
Dalí exhibition at Reina Sophia Museum
Together, Museo Reina Sofía and the Centre Georges Pompidou have organised a large exhibition devoted to Salvador Dalí. The exhibition is conceived as a contribution to the reappraisal of Dalí as a thinker, a writer and the creator of a very particular vision of the world. The surrealist period comprises the central part of the show, which places special emphasis on the paranoiac-critical method developed by the artist as a mechanism with which to transform and subvert reality. For the first time in Spain, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum has constructed a genealogy of the hyperrealism. The resulting exhibition includes works on loan from the collection of Louis K. Meisel, whose gallery was the epicenter of this movement.
Cirque du Soleil : KOOZA
KOOZA is a return to the origins of Cirque du Soleil: It combines two circus traditions - acrobatic performance and the art of clowning. The show highlights the physical demands of human performance in all its splendor and fragility, presented in a colorful mélange that emphasizes bold slapstick humor.
